Read with us every Tuesday at 2:00 PM
Join us for our weekly Community Reads program as we explore The Undead Fox of Deadwood Forest by Aubrey Hartman. This middle grade novel, appropriate for youth in 3rd grade and older, is included on both the Children’s and Intermediate 2027 Sequoyah Masterlists and is a Newbery Honor Award winner.
We will read selected portions together during in-library sessions, with additional reading to be completed outside of scheduled events. All are welcome to participate.
The story follows a fox and a badger who reluctantly team up to change their destinies in Deadwood Forest. Featuring black-and-white illustrations throughout, the novel blends adventure, humor, and heart in a richly imagined setting.
Free copies of the book will be available at the library beginning May 29, 2026, while supplies last, thanks in part to Hachette Book Group. Limit one copy per family.
We are also excited to welcome special community guest readers throughout the series.
“The journey that Clare and Gingersnipes take together made me wish I was a kid reading The Undead Fox of Deadwood Forest by flashlight long after I was supposed to be asleep in bed. I cannot wait for young readers to fall in love with this story and these unforgettable characters, ” said Colby Sharp, educator and author of The Creativity Project.
